We spent one night at the Hale Lodge, and it was homey, relaxing, and comfortable. Our hosts made us feel welcome and safe from the moment we arrived...which can be difficult in guesthouses and lodges with shared baths and common areas. Nonetheless, as soon as we settled in, we felt surrounded by friends and family. The room was quiet and moderately appointed with a spectacular view of Seymour Lake from the private rooftop porch (the reservation offered either private bath or private porch, and the latter was the BEST choice). The lodge was still operating on COVID conditions (like most of Vermont) and they said breakfast was limited, but we were not wanting for anything. A must stay destination if you're comfortable with the shared bath and common area style of travel...and if not, you're missing out on the experience!

Stumbled across this one when looking for a place to hang my hat for a night. Couldn't ask for better. Arrived about 5 PM on a dreary October afternoon after a very long day of the road. Host greeted us upon arrival and gave us not only a great tour of the place but a really interesting history of it. The grounds were perfect, my only wish is that I had it for more than just the one night but we were on a ten-day road trip and one overnight is all we could do. Comfortable bed and a great night's sleep. Went into Derby for dinner, woke up to a wonderful cool morning. Absolutely recommend. Pictures taken on this dreary day don't do it justice.

VINTAGE GEM !!! The property is no less than an Antique Museum. Above all , I called him post the working hours and the owner accommodated us in no time . Since it was a on call booking Josh came all the way to receive us at the reception and get the booking formalities sorted. It’s a bed and breakfast place It was well priced for 1 night and had quite a few options for the breakfast. He makes amazing coffee , btw. It was a perfect fall trip , the property is opposite to the Seymour lake, which apparently is the cleanest lake of Vermont. Do visit the property for a blissful experience and for vintage lovers. Can’t wait to be back in summers !

I had a truly wonderful time at the lodge by the lake. The stunning view took my breath away every morning, and having a friendly owner made the stay even better. The well-equipped kitchen was a delight, allowing us to cook our own meals and savor them amidst nature's beauty. This place is a gem, and I'm already looking forward to my next visit.

Recently stayed for a weekend of snowmobiling. Right off the trail for easy access. Very cozy and has the charm of Vermont Inn. Bed was comfortable, shower warm, JP the owner was friendly and welcoming. Pretty view of the lake, I'm sure in the summer it's quite nice to sit on the porch and relax. There are narrow stairs to navigate to some of the rooms, so may not be best for mobility impaired.

This is a perfect getaway lodge for those looking for a more nature-based vacation. Stayed at the room with the queen sized bed and private bathroom. Room was clean and cozy. Bathroom very spacious. Only downside with the bathroom sink is that it takes a while to drain after using. Continental breakfast available in the mornings. Location wise, the lodge is about 28 minutes from Lake Willoughby and about an hour from the major cities such as Stowe and Newport. Beautiful scenic lake view that compliments the overall aura. Overall, I recommend this place for those looking for a Fall Getaway. It really does live up to its name of #1 Vacation Spot in Vermont :) Would stay here again!

What a lovely little place. Nicely restored with period furniture and such. One feels transported back in time. The manager lives on site. He is friendly and very helpful. The front porch overlooks Seymour Lake. Parking in the back and a large public lot next door. Facilities for swimming in the summer. A variety of rooms.
